The main purpose of the current research was to understand the phenomenology of lived experience and the understanding of elementary school managers about the personal development plan. This qualitative research was using the phenomenological method of implementation and the method of collecting information, using semi-structured interviews. Accordingly, among the primary school principals, 13 people were purposively selected based on the criteria for entering the study and interviews continued until saturation was reached. The interviews were analyzed using Van Manen's (1990) six-stage reflective model. after extracting the themes and classifying them, 14 primary themes were identified in the form of four main themes 1. The approach to preparing a personal development plan 2. The applied approach of the personal development plan 3. The consequential approach of the personal development plan and 4. Other approaches of the personal development plan were identified and counted. The innovation of this article is in providing a useful and phenomenological understanding of the experiences of elementary school principals in the field of personal development plan that can help improve managerial processes in this field. Therefore, the collection of coherent and effective ideas for the development of human resources from the individual development program can lead to the realization of efficient and effective development programs for school principals.
